SANS ISC diary entries (mid–March 2026) report multiple defensive observations: a malicious Bash script was found that installs a GSocket backdoor on a victim host (delivery vector and origin unknown). Cowrie/honeypot logs show activity from a source (64.89.161.198) that included portscans, a successful Telnet login, web probes and an embedded string referencing “MAGIC_PAYLOAD_KILLER_HERE_OR_LEAVE_EMPTY_iranbot_was_here.” Honeypots also recorded broad scanning for web management tools (phpMyAdmin/adminer) and probes targeting "/proxy/" URLs.
