What happened
Multiple coordinated supply-chain incidents in late Apr–May 2026 (branded “Mini Shai-Hulud”) compromised npm and PyPI packages. Attackers used a chained GitHub Actions "Pwn Request", cache poisoning and OIDC token extraction from runner memory to inject Bun-based credential-stealing payloads; on May 11 the campaign compromised 84 npm artifacts across 42 @tanstack/* packages (and other namespaces), notably producing the first npm supply-chain compromise with valid SLSA Build Level 3 attestations.
